SUCCESS STORIES
My name is Sydney Burns, and I came to Job Core to take the first step toward my nursing career. As a single mom raising a son with special needs, balancing school, work, and family wasn’t easy—but Job Core’s support, flexible schedule, and funding options made it possible.
Through Job Core’s Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship Program, I was able to earn while I learned, gain real-world experience, and build confidence in my skills. The hands-on clinical training at the end of the program prepared me to pass my state CNA exam and step right into a CNA role at an assisted living facility.
Today, I’m in my first semester at Rasmussen University, working toward my Associate’s Degree in Nursing (R.N.) while continuing to grow in patient care. My dream is to become a labor and delivery nurse—and thanks to Job Core and the City of Rockford, I’m well on my way.
